We did this shoot in Tampa.

Homura is probably my favorite character currently. I instantly admired her strength and resilience, so I was really excited about cosplaying her. We debuted this cosplay at Metrocon 2011 and won a Judge's Award in the Costume Contest.

I made this costume myself, while Alyssa ([link]) made her Madoka costume. I drafted all the patterns for the jacket and the double collars. (which were a bitch to figure out) It's pretty much fully serged & pinked; which the judges really appreciated. Blood, sweat, and tears literally went into finishing it. There were a lot of details and the design of the jacket was a bit complex.
I also made the shield myself, out of plywood and a metal faucet cover.
